North Point [ ] > []
Currently, in Hong Kong, there is a lack of public programs to recycle Styrofoam and household food Compost, especially at a domestic scale. In 2020, we began looking into this subject. Studies and community-based workshops are done to understand the challenges and potentials of recycling styrofoam and food compost in Hong Kong. Taking North Point’s community as a testing ground, “ North Point [ ]>[] ” is a satellite program of Cycle of Life, a public art installation on Chun Yeung Street. It serves as a short-term experimental station to explore the possibilities of wet market Styrofoam recycling, operating till the end of 11/2021.
A massive amount of Styrofoam boxes has been seen to pile up in the North Point district, especially inside Chun Yeung Street wet market. In light of this, we attempt to use the North Point district as a starting point, to showcase a recycling station at the North Point Pier, with regular educational workshops and tours, street booths in hopes of promoting the possibilities of recycling Styrofoam, thus promoting environmental protection.
